While I would dearly love to grab Bruce and Robin's SQL/SP Brain, John Talbot's Kendo Brain and Khosbayar's css Brain and stuff them into my own head. I am well aware that "almost" ANYTHING is possible and is only limited by our knowledge and understanding of how to best implement css, html, jquery and control Kendo UI. My request / suggestion comes about from many potential clients things like. ![]() So what do you think? Would you use such a feature? How practical do you think it is? One downside of this approach is that there maybe a styling conflict between AwareIM widgets (driven by Kendo UI themes) and the rest of the form (which presumably will be using custom styling) AND they will also be able to provide presentation options of the element - just like they do now in the Form Designer Users will see the preview of their HTML and they will be able to select certain elements - elements and placeholder elementsī) They will map input elements to some attributes of the object (as in 1)Ĭ) When they select a placeholder they will be able to map it to any attribute of the object (including references, documents and so on). To address some of the limitations of 1) and allow mixing and matching custom HTML forms with AwareM-generated widgets:Ģ) Allow users to define special placeholders inside their HTML that will be mapped to Aware IM widgetsĪ) With this approach there will be some sort of a Form Designer. At runtime Aware IM will replace these expressions with the actual valuesį) There will be no form designer for such custom formsĪ) No form sections, no tabs - if you need them use a library that supports themī) No support for reference attributes - no reference drop downs, swap-selects, multi-selectors etcĭ) No support for uploading pictures (although, it will be possible to show a picture using a tag expression >Į) No calendar widgets in dates - if you need them you should use any JS library that supports them Date, Timestamp attributes)ī) At runtime Aware IM will populate values for the tags and write them back into Aware IMĬ) It will also provide validation based on the attribute properties (whether it is required, min/max values etc)ĭ) elements will be allowed (it is assumed that they will start Aware IM operations)Į) It will be possible to insert tag expressions, for example > anywhere in the HTML. As a developer you will need to prepare HTML that uses, and tagsĪ) Aware IM will scan HTML for these tags and ask you to provide the name of the attribute that the tag will map to ![]() There are two possible implementations:ġ) A custom HTML form prepared by the developer will be used as is - what you see is (almost) what you getĢ) In addition to 1) allow the user to add Aware IM widgets - the developer will define placeholders in his HTML and at runtime Aware IM will replace these placeholders with Aware IM (Kendo UI) widgetsĪbout 1). The feature is not easy to describe but I'll try. You will need to read the description of the feature below in order to understand how this will work. Considering that it's a lot of work, we will appreciate your opinion of the usefulness of this feature before we commit to the implementation. We are thinking of implementing this for version 8.2, but there are a few issues with this idea and we are not sure how useful the end result will be. Then import it in Aware IM as an object form and specify mapping between input fields of the form and object attributes, so that Aware IM can automatically read and write input values of the form. Roughly the idea is to prepare HTML of the form outside of Aware IM using any custom styles or JS libraries. At the Conference in Providence Mark Bailey floated the idea of being able to use any custom HTML forms in Aware IM to replace the forms that Aware IM generates automatically.
